The JMU Softball completed their second straight perfect weekend going 4-0 in the Gamecock Invitational. The pitching and defense continue to be huge strengths. They did not allow an earned run all weekend and allowed only 3 runs in total against 4 opponents. Their bats stayed hot as well, scoring 14 runs. The wins this weekend were against Sacred Heart, Chattanooga, North Florida, and Eastern Illinois. Julia Dominguez had a 3-run homerun against North Florida in the 5th inning to give the Dukes the come from behind win (and ties her with Amber Kirk for most homeruns with 2). Amber continues to lead the team with 12 RBI's. The run by North Florida ended an outstanding 21 run streak of holding opponents winless. JMU has had 4 shutouts so far this season. The Dukes will take their 9 game win streak into the Knoxville, TN next weekend for the Tennessee Invitational.
Note: It seems the JMU softball team is a team that warms up the bats later in the game. Total runs by inning (in order): 2, 5, 5, 3, 19, 12, 9.

JMU Softball Has Perfect Weekend
While the first tournament the JMU Softball team participated in this year, the Cathedral City Kickoff, ended up with them losing 3 or 4 games, the Dukes rebounded this weekend. They traveled to Charleston, SC to compete in the College of Charleston Classic. The Dukes only allowed 8 runs in 5 games (including 2 shutouts), they scored 25 runs beating Howard, East Tennessee State, Syracuse, Akron, and the College of Charleston. While the conference season doesn't start for over a month, it will be crucial for the Dukes to get in some good wins early in these tournaments. They were ranking #2 in the CAA's preseason rankings, so expectations are high as the season continues.
